LAB GROWN DIAMONDS
Lab grown diamonds, also known as engineered or cultured diamonds, are real diamonds. They are grown in a highly controlled laboratory environment, using advanced technological processes that duplicate the conditions under which diamonds naturally develop when they form in the earth. Lab grown CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) diamonds are made from a seed diamond. Since they are the same material as an earth mined diamond, they exhibit all the same optical and chemical properties. No human can identify by sight the difference between an earth mined, or lab grown diamond. A similar situation is ice from a freezer, versus ice from a glacier. One happened naturally, the other had technical help. The advantage of Lab Grown Diamonds, is that they are friendly to the environment, humanely resourced and a fraction of the cost of Earth mined. It is important to note the distinction between lab grown diamonds and diamond simulants. Diamond simulants, such as cubic zirconia and moissanite look similar to diamonds but are not true carbon crystals. Simulants do not have the same chemical and physical properties as natural diamonds and therefore sell at a much lower price than earth or lab grown diamonds. Simulants can be distinguished from natural or lab gown diamond using only the naked eye.
